Enjoying your food despite intolerances

Almost two million people are affected by food intolerances in Switzerland, with lactose (milk sugar) and gluten (wheat protein) intolerances being the most common.

By transparently declaring allergens on packaging and with our Free From range we support customers with these special nutritional needs when shopping. A separate text box on the packaging clearly shows the allergens that must be declared. You can then see at a glance whether you can consume the product without any worries.

Free From – for enjoyment and well-being

Our variety of gluten-free and lactose-free products provides quality of life, enjoyment and well-being. Our range now comprises over 350 articles suitable for people with allergies or food intolerances, and they are labelled accordingly. We carry many special products under the Free From brand. They are produced according to a special recipe or production method without a specific allergen that is normally contained in the conventional product, (e.g. eggs in mayonnaise, gluten in bread or lactose in milk). In future you will also find the Free From label on other Coop own-label brands.

Independent certification

We are having more and more products certified by Service Allergie Suisse, an independent subsidiary of the aha! Swiss Allergy Centre foundation. The products are labelled with the Swiss Allergy Label. All our gluten-free products also bear the legally protected gluten-free symbol: the crossed-out ear of wheat in a circle, which is awarded by the European Coeliac Associations.
