Dedicated support for needy and disadvantaged people in Switzerland and abroad
We are a committed member of society
We want to give something back to society. Because of this, we support Coop Aid for Mountain Regions, donate products to people in need in Switzerland, provide straightforward aid for natural disasters, promote social projects abroad and actively support children and young people.
Coop Aid for Mountain Regions can look back on a history spanning over 70 years. It is committed to better living and working conditions for the inhabitants of Swiss mountain regions and helps safeguard their livelihood.
Diverse donation activities at home and abroad
We support people in need in Switzerland and abroad, with financial and product donations. This involves us working closely with social organizations such as Schweizer Tafel (Swiss Table) and Tischlein deck dich (Table Be Set). Within the framework of our own label brand Naturaline for fairly-traded textiles made from organic cotton, together with the bioRe Foundation we run projects in India and Tasmania that benefit the local farming families.
Wide-ranging sponsorship commitments
Through our sponsorship, we support projects in the areas of sport, culture, exercise and nutrition, people and environment and children and family. We offer people inspiring experiences that are a tangible expression of our corporate values of dynamism, enthusiasm and sustainability.
Since 2009, we have been a partner to the Swiss budget advice organization Budgetberatung Schweiz, which brings together 35 advice centres. People from all income groups can visit the centres for advice on their personal finances and how to behave with greater awareness in financial matters. Budgetberatung Schweiz operates according to the principle of helping people to help themselves.
Since 2016, we have been a partner of the Stiftung Schweizer Sporthilfe (foundation for the promotion of sport in Switzerland), helping to promote promising Swiss sporting talents. Successful athletes serve as important role models to young people and actively help encourage the general population to engage in more physical activity.
Clear guidelines to protect young people
In the context of alcohol, tobacco and electronic media, we take our responsibility to protect the young very seriously. Our Protection of the Young Guideline, which in some respects goes beyond the varying cantonal regulations, is implemented at our points of sale throughout Switzerland. Moreover, Coop has its own guideline on communication aimed at children. This guideline voluntarily restricts our product advertising to children aged under 12, to whom we only advertise products that meet specific nutritional criteria.
