Our sustainability reporting
We report comprehensively on our commitment to sustainability and provide detailed facts and figures on our business, social and environmental activities.
For us, a permanent dialogue and detailed reports on our commitment to sustainability are essential. Since 2004 we have therefore published a regular sustainability report, and we dedicate at least one double page to this important topic every week in the Coop member press.
Annual Report of the Coop Group
Sustainability is part of everyday life throughout the Coop Group and is integral to our business activities. In 2016 we therefore decided to report on developments at the Coop Group throughout the year in an integrated annual report. This includes the key facts and figures about our commitment to sustainability.
Sustainability Progress Report
Sometimes, our stakeholders, partners and sustainability experts have specific information needs that cannot be met in the Annual Report in terms of scope and level of detail. We are now compiling this specific information in our «Sustainability Progress Report», which is published at the end of May.
Some units of the Coop Group also report in detail about their commitment to sustainability, for instance Chocolats Halba or Transgourmet France.
100% carbon-neutral, 94% beans processed with the Fairtrade label, 78% of sales generated with certified products: Chocolats Halba is the sustainability trailblazer of the Swiss chocolate industry. The new sustainability report is dedicated to the 2015 and 2016 financial years, which were characterized by the establishment of the factory in Pratteln. At the same time, the company increased sales of sustainable products, raised the number of planted trees and launched additional dynamic agroforestry projects – a revolutionary approach to sustainable cocoa production.
Eric Decroix, President of Transgourmet France: «Our mission can be summed up in 3 words: sharing the best. Sustainability gives our strategy and our initiatives a purpose.»
Environmentally and animal-friendly products under the Transgourmet Origine own-label brand, innovative logistics solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (natural gas and biodiesel trucks, new Transgourmet Aquitaine warehouse), activities on behalf of employees with a disability, and cultural diversity are all topics that are part of Transgourmet France’s sustainability policy and which are presented in its annual report.
