Making great progress with business partners
Only by collaborating with our suppliers can we provide a sustainable market offer and achieve our ambitious multi-annual sustainability targets 2014–2020. With this in mind, in 2014 we held the first green conference with around 200 representatives from our business partners and Coop decision-makers.
Under the motto of “Creating sustainable added value together”, we formed working groups with suppliers in order to analyse existing collaborations and identify potential for the future. While in recent years the focus has primarily been on Coop’s own-label brands, in future brand manufacturers will also be called upon to make a greater contribution to securing a sustainable product range, as the potential leverage is significant here, too.
Initial successes already visible
A first step was the launch of Naturaplan and Oecoplan heroes in 2013 and 2014. These are products from brand manufacturers that were added to our range as part of a dual branding with our own-label sustainability brands. Following the green conference, suppliers devised 336 concrete suggestions and measures for supporting the implementation of the multi-annual targets and exploiting common market opportunities. These ranged from concrete product suggestions through feedback on process optimization to communication measures. The implementation of these suggestions is integrated in the individual targets set for our procurement pool managers and buyers.
We work together with many business partners over the long term to establish sustainable supply chains and ensure that high standards are met. Thanks to partnerships based on trust, they are able to carry out the necessary investments or develop products that are beneficial both in financial terms and for people, animals and the environment.
