Contractual agreements with business
partners ensure that only impeccable products reach Coop's shelves.
Coop requires suppliers to complete a detailed self-assessment and
it agrees clear product specifications with them.
Depending on the production risk, Coop also requires special
undertakings from its partners and performs its own audits of their
operations to check compliance. Official standards are guaranteed
by recognized, impartial monitoring bodies. |

Coop's business partners are
scrutinized from A to Z.
Coop requires all its business partners to operate their own
quality management systems that ensure compliance with "Good
Manufacturing Practices" and to perform regular quality checks of
goods delivered to Coop.
In addition, the producers of Coop's own brands are required to
implement the "Global Food Safety Initiative" (GFSI). |

Besides agreeing to quality
specifications, Coop's business partners also have to comply,
though on a stepwise basis, with requirements relating to working
conditions and social responsibility.
Coop is a member of the "Business Social Compliance Initiative"
(BSCI) and promotes the implementation and systematic monitoring of
the organization's goals. This takes the form of declarations of
liability, for instance, and certification of social
management.
Attention to ecological aspects by Coop's business partners is
guaranteed by, for instance, certification to ISO 14001 and
EMAS. |

Coop supports a uniform
system of labelling the origin of Swiss farm products: SUISSE
GARANTIE indicates that a product is produced and processed in
Switzerland. It makes clear demands on production and processing
and ensures a seamless, independent, monitoring and certification
system. |
