Water – a valuable resource

In many countries, water resources are already overexploited and drinking water is becoming scarce. On top of this, the situation is being exacerbated by climate change. We help producers of fruit, vegetables and flowers through a range of concrete projects to achieve a more economical use of water. At the same time, we are also working constantly to minimize water consumption in our own production facilities and stores.

We strive to achieve sustainable water management through the following measures:

    • Reduction of water consumption in agriculture
      We support our producers in cutting their water consumption.
    • Participation in international committees
      We work together with international organizations in order to ensure sustainable water management in agriculture.
    • Transfer of knowledge and technology
      With the Coop Sustainability Fund, we support farmers with technology and knowledge in terms of efficient water use.
    • Improved use of water
      In addition to drinking water, we are making increasing use of rainwater and production water, and are continuously improving water use in our own facilities.
