Guidelines on food

We refrain from using additives considered controversial by the public in any of our own-label brands. Information required by allergy sufferers or vegetarians is provided by means of additional details on the packaging. Clear guidelines apply to fish products, the feeding of livestock such as cattle, veal calves, pigs and chickens, as well as the use of pesticides.

Guidelines on fish, crustaceans and molluscs

Our aim for the long term is to source our entire range of fresh- and saltwater fish, crustaceans and mussels, whether farmed or wild-caught, from sustainably produced and ecologically sound aquacultures and fisheries that do not deplete stocks. As a founder member of the WWF Seafood Group, we arrange for WWF to audit our entire range of fish and seafood on an annual basis and implement any necessary measures highlighted as a result. We have expressed our commitment to WWF to achieve very high standards in this regard.

Guidelines on pesticides (fruit, vegetables and fresh herbs)

We require full compliance with the legislation regulating the use of pesticides in the respective production country. Moreover, we limit the amount of demonstrable pesticide residues on fruit, vegetables and fresh herbs and prohibit the use of pesticides with particularly critical ingredients in agricultural production, post-harvest treatment, processing, storage and transport. This enables us to alleviate the negative impact of the use of pesticides on the environment and the health of agricultural workers, and to make the fruit, vegetable and fresh herb products even safer for consumers.
