Transgourmet to acquire a majority stake in German retail platform Team Beverage AG

Transgourmet Central & Eastern Europe is set to take over 70% of the shares in Wildeshausen-based Team Beverage AG and thus enter the German beverage market. With its network of 36,000 distribution points and mandated system sales of more than EUR 1.3 billion, Team Beverage AG is one of the leading distribution, purchasing, marketing and service platforms in the German beverage industry and will make an ideal addition to Transgourmet's previous offering in Germany.

As an independent retail centre, Team Beverage AG bundles the sourcing volumes of small and medium-sized speciality beverage wholesalers and manages the associated price negotiations with the industry. It also offers a large number of services in the areas of data management and category management, marketing and e-commerce, supply chain management and logistics, financial services and own-label and exclusive brands.

Team Beverage AG thus offers comprehensive and tailored industry-specific concepts and services to speciality beverage wholesalers and their customers in the areas of catering, beverage retail, filling stations and kiosks, with over 36,000 distribution points.

Transgourmet's entry into the German beverage market will meet its customers' growing needs and demands for better performance and fewer contact persons. Team Beverage AG will thus make an optimum addition to Transgourmet's previous offering. With this acquisition, Transgourmet will continue to strengthen its position and expertise in the speciality wholesale sector.

Transgourmet Central & Eastern Europe belongs to the Transgourmet Group and, as a leading multi-channel provider, is a delivery and cash & carry specialist for professional catering kitchens. The Transgourmet Group is Europe's second-largest cash & carry and wholesale supplies business. It is organized into four national companies. Transgourmet has its headquarters in Basel and is part of the Coop Group.

The acquisition of the shares will apply retrospectively from 1 January 2017 and will go ahead subject to approval by the relevant competition authorities. Following the acquisition, Transgourmet will hold 70%, the Nordmann Group 20% and Süddeutsche Getränkedistribution GmbH (Brau Holding International) 10% of the shares.
