Coop posted further growth in 2018. Sales grew by 5.0% to CHF 30.7 billion. Both Retail and Wholesale / Production developed positively, posting growth of 2.0% and 9.0% respectively.

Net sales in the Retail business area amounted to CHF 17.8 billion, an increase of 2.0%. Customer footfall at Coop supermarkets was up by 3.1%, generating CHF 10.4 billion in net sales, which was CHF 83 million higher than in the previous year. The specialist formats advanced net sales by 3.8% to CHF 7.4 billion. In the home electronics segment, Coop further strengthened its position as market leader, with net sales of CHF 2.1 billion. The Coop Vitality pharmacies broke through the 200 million franc mark for the first time, achieving growth of 8.5% compared with the previous year.

Wholesale / Production
In the Wholesale / Production business area, net sales rose by 9.0% to CHF 14.2 billion. The Transgourmet Group generated net sales of CHF 9.7 billion. Transgourmet thus grew by 6.9% and further consolidated its position as Europe's second-largest wholesale supplies and cash & carry company.

The Coop Group's online business continues to enjoy very strong growth of 20.4%. Net sales grew to over CHF 2.3 billion. In retail, net sales in the online business posted growth of 14.9% to CHF 782 million. Online supermarket Coop@home recorded growth of 6.7%. The online shops in the home electronics segment (Microspot, Nettoshop, Fust and Interdiscount) continued on their success course, with growth of 17.4% to over half a billion. In the wholesale business, net online sales rose by 23.4% to over CHF 1.5 billion.

The own-label sustainability brands and quality labels in retail performed very well again in 2018. Sustainability sales grew by 6.8% to CHF 4.1 billion. Coop Naturaplan sales alone grew by 17.1%.
