Comments: Nut cheese from the Lucerne hinterland has a long tradition dating back to the 19th century, when the cheese was produced in the rural communities of the Lucerne hinterland and the Emmental. Back then, the region was primarily used for agricultural purposes. The gently rolling Alpine foothills of the Lucerne hinterland and the Emmental were dotted with numerous farms.
