Walnuts are high in omega-3 fatty acids and dietary fibre. They also provide plenty of magnesium, vitamin B1, vitamin B6, folic acid and vitamin E. When consumed at a rate of 30 grams of walnuts per day, they help to improve the elasticity of the blood vessels.
Walnuts are especially delicious in muesli, salads, desserts or as a snack between meals. They are also processed into walnut oil. This is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and therefore sensitive to heat. For this reason, walnut oil is only suitable for cold cooking. The oil should also be stored in a cool and dark place because of the sensitive fatty acids.
