When is a product lactose-free and/or gluten-free?
A product is declared lactose-free if it contains less than 0.1 grams of lactose per 100 grams or 100 millilitres. Gluten-free products may not contain any more than 20 milligrams of gluten per kilogram of food. All other foods may contain traces of up to 200 milligrams of gluten per kilogram of food without traces of gluten having to be declared.
How are lactose-free and gluten-free products labelled?
All of our Coop own-label brands that carry a claim about allergens are certified by Service Allergie Suisse, an independent subsidiary of the aha! Swiss Allergy Centre foundation The products bear the legally protected Swiss Allergy Label. In addition to the Swiss Allergy Label, our gluten-free own-label brands also bear the legally protected gluten-free symbol: the crossed-out ear of wheat in a circle, which is awarded by the Association of European Coeliac Societies.
Our product display lists all articles that are advertised as gluten-free and/or lactose-free on the packaging. It is guaranteed that these meet the legal requirements. For legal reasons, articles that are naturally gluten-free or lactose-free cannot be advertised as such. For this reason, articles that do not naturally contain gluten or lactose, such as mineral water or fresh fruit and vegetables, are not displayed here.
