Onions & pears
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 2 red onion, sliced
  • a little pepper
  • 2 pears (e.g. Kaiser Alexander), thinly sliced
  • 50 g grated Sbrinz
Cream cheese
  • 200 g double cream cheese (e.g. Philadelphia)
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tsp grated horseradish in a jar
  • 2 tsp thyme, finely chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
To shape & bake the whirls
  • 1 pizza dough, rolled into a rectangle (approx. 550 g)
  • 100 g cured ham in slices

Onions & pears
Heat the oil, sauté the onions for approx. 3 mins., season. Mix in the pears and cheese, leave to cool, set aside.
Cream cheese
Combine the cream cheese with the milk, thyme and horseradish, season.
To shape & bake the whirls
Roll out the dough, spread the cream cheese over the dough, top with the cured ham. Spoon the onion & pear mixture on top. Roll up the dough tightly, cut into approx. 2 cm slices (approx. 12 pieces). Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake for approx. 25 mins. in the centre of an oven preheated to 200°C. Remove from the oven, serve lukewarm or cold.
