Heat the oil in a pan, sauté the shallots and garlic for approx. 1 min. Pour in the soy sauce along with all the other ingredients up to and including the whiskey. Add the tomatoes and all the other ingredients up to and including the salt. Simmer the sauce over a low heat for approx. 30 mins., stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens. Remove the pan from the heat, leave to cool.
