The herbal mixtures are macerated, i.e. the herbs soak in an alcohol-water mixture of approx. 70% by volume for 2-3 days. This extracts the contents the herbs so that their aromatic substances are released into the liquid. The base material of Jägermeister is mixed from this maceration process, and then filtered and stored in oak barrels. After one year of maturation, the substance is mixed with alcohol, sugar solution and softened water to form the final product. Jägermeister has been drunk for more than 50 years.
