Caramel brown colour, very intense and varied aromas of honey, caramel, roasted nuts, toast, dried fruits, raisins and coffee. Sweet on the palate with rich and powerful, notes of toffee and hazelnut. The finish is very long and allows the varied aroma palette emerge once again.
Tawny describes the brownish colour of this style of port wine, which must be aged in large wooden casks for at least 8 years. The ages of the wines matured even longer in the cask (10, 20, 30, 40 years) stand for the average storage time. With increasing storage time, the wines become more complex and also rarer. Tawnies are ready to drink when they come onto the market.
