Very dark ruby with glints of purple. Exudes a multi-faceted fragrance. Expressive, intense notes of black, ripe cherries with plums, fresh blossoms, cloves and dark chocolate. Dense on the palate with lots of creaminess and finely woven tannins. The aromas on the nose are accompanied by a hint of tobacco and cedarwood. Clear, lean and focussed. Lingering finish that is both juicy and elegant.
Only the best grapes from the Badia a Passignano vineyard are used for this outstanding Chianti. After harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed and immediately fermented in 50-hectolitre wood fermentation vats and stainless steel tanks. Matured and refined for around 14 months in new or one-to-two year-old French and Hungarian barriques, followed by another twelve months of bottle maturing. Only around 75,000 bottles are produced each year!
