Dark cherry red colour, a typical Shiraz bouquet, verry fruity with notes of black berries and spicy clove aromas, pepper and nougat, sweet on the attack with vanilla accents and hints of maturing for 12 months in oak barrels, good concentration, a balanced palate, well structured body with just the right amount of smoothness, ample and aromatic into the finish.
Vinified for 18 months in American oak barrels. Penfolds was founded in 1844 and is now the largest wine merchant in Australia. Thefounder, Dr Christoph Rawson began cultivating vines and making wine, initially only for medical purposes. Named after the Kalimna Vineyard in the Barossa Valley.
