Light ruby colour with hints of garnet, aroma rich, a spicy bouquet withsour cherry accents, roses and tar, medium-bodied on the palate, a successful partnership between a tannic presence and acidity, diverse aromas with nice balance. A superb Valtellina Superiore.
The La Gatta domain was created 500 years ago. It used to be a Dominicancloister and then the De Gatti family's (nobles) summer residence, from which it takes its name. It has been the property of the Triacca family of winemakers, since 1969. 45 hectares of vines. 13 hectares, the largest part, are in La Gatta's possession. 10 hectares are of the Sassella appellation, 9 hectares are in Valgella and as much in Tirano, and 4 hectares at Villa di Tirano. Casa La Gatta comes from the steep slopes of Bianzone and Tirano. Vinification lasts 2 years in large wooden barrels.
