Profound purple colour, an intensely sweet berry bouquet, hints of dark berries, prune flavours, cinnamon and ripe cherries, an imposing wine on the palate, very fleshy, a pleasant, robust body, a slightly sweet flavour, good concentration, a dominance of fruit, still young at the finish. A typical Amarone, and very pleasant to drink.
Selected Valpolicella grape clusters are harvested in early October and dried for up to 3 months in small crates on straw beds or shelves. Weight loss is about 25 to 40% of the grape's initial weight, which concentrates the sugars and the extracts. The grapes arepressed in January, then aged in barrels for many years.
