Friulano is the most famous of the Padua province wines. It is exclusively produced in the DOC region of Bagnoli. This well structured wine was already appreciated during the second republic of Venice. A great red wine, thanks to ancestral winemaking techniques, a late harvest (after November 11th), a long fermentation including grape skins, and a first maturation in small 225 litre barrels, the wine develops all its qualities after maturing for about two years in large 50 hl casks. Sansovino Vigneti e Cantine Scarl is a wine association located in the southeastern part of the Veneto region, some 50 km from Venice. Since 1950, 25 million tons of grapes are processed, a year, on average. In addition to international varieties like Merlot, Cabernet, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio, the association also grows Friularo, Prosecco, Marzemino and Refosco grapes. It markets its winesnot only in Italy but all over the world.
