Clear ruby. Perfumed on the nose, with juniper, floral notes, milk chocolate, roasted herbs, sea buckthorn and caramel. Powerful on the palate, with ripe, finely grained tannins, mild acidity, bitter chocolate and a faint suggestion of wood within an elegant, linear fruit core. Fresh aftertaste.
Jean Paul Autard has been managing this family estate since he was 17. He strives for balance in the way in which he grows his vines, vinifies his fruit and ages his wines (e.g. waiting for phenolic ripeness, destemming the grapes, ageing the wine in oak). ?Concentration, power, elegance and finesse ? a great Châteauneuf du-Pape must combine all these qualities, seducing wine lovers with its spectrum of flavours and persistence on the finish.? As was already the case in previous generations of his family, Autard approaches his work without any preconceived ideas but with insatiable curiosity. This allows him to produce wines which, although impressive in their infancy, will improve considerably with age. Living and working in harmony with his surroundings, Autard is in continuous pursuit of perfection ? combining ambition with authenticity in the process.
