The Chianti Riserva Ducale is an extension of the Ruffino Chianti produced since the early 20th century. It owes its name to the Duke of Aosta, one of the first and most famous admirers of Ruffino wines. At the end of the 19th century, the wine producer Ruffino was named as the exclusive supplier of the estate by the Duke of Aosta, who presented him with a ducal certificate in recognition of his appreciation.
