The domain is located in the commune of Castellina in Chianti, in the vicinity of a small village built around a medieval romanesque church dedicated to San Leonino. Grown close to the wineries, the vines enjoy perfect sun from the south - southeast between 270 and 400 meters above sea level. The soil is fairly mixed, with a majority of clay for the part of the vine planted deep in the soil, while the part that grows higher up benefits from lime rich soil. San Leonino Chianti Classico and San Leonino Chianti Classico Riserva are considered the most typical of the appellation's wines made exclusively from indigenous grapes (95% Sangiovese and 5% Canaiolo). They are raised with care for 16 months in Slovenian oak barrels.
