Just north of Viana there is a series of small valleys, formed by small streams, dotted with vineyards, small cornfields and ancient olive trees. This all creates a unique landscape, far from the stereotype of the typical seas of Rioja vines. This is the source of Valdebarón. Wines which grow in shallow soils on slopes which produce plants with very small sized grape berries but high concentration. In every one of these grapes there is a little bit of Valdebarón.The grapes used to make this wine come from our vines grown on shallow, sandy ochre soils on the slopes to the northwest of Viana. These characteristics, combined with the controlled water stress, give rise to clusters with small berries which we leave to reach full ripeness on the vine.
