Taurasi matures for 18 months in French oak barrels and another 12 months in large wooden barrels. The winery was founded in 1978. Since 1994, all the grapes produced at Terradora are vinified on site. Walter Mastroberardino, his sons Paolo and Lucio as well as his daughter Daniela chose Montefusco for their cellaring, as this location is at the heart of the vineyard layed out in a star shape. Montefusco's history goes back to antiquity. Until 1806, the town was the capital of the Ultra principality and is now part of theIrpinia district, in the province of Avellino. The modern winery is surrounded by the Serra di Montefusco. Located at some 650 meters above sea level, it overlooks the three Irpinia DOCG production areas: Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo in the Sabato river valley as well as Taurasi in the Calore river valley. The vines extend over 150 hectares in Campania, making Terredora one of the largest producers in the region.
