Pale light yellow with a greenish hue. An intense honey nose with ripe peaches. Very concentrated, with creamy accents in a fine, full-bodied, an aromatically expressive texture. Distinct vanilla and barrel-aged notes wash over the tongue. Lovely balance and minerality, evokes caramel with a long finish.
Robert Mondavi became independent in 1965. His vision was to produce wine of comparable quality to the best in the world, and most notably, French wines. In 1976, in a legendary comparative taste test, the best Burgundy and Bordeaux wines were supplanted by Mondavi's and Californian vineyards entered the big league.
