The Lavaux wine region is known for its distinguished Chasselas. The vines are planted on steep terraces overlooking Lake Geneva. The vineyard area is 29.6 hectares. 3/4 is planted with white grapes, predominantly Chasselas, 1/4 red, mostly Pinot Noir and Gamay. The most prominent areas are the Clos des Abbayes, Clos des Moines, l'Arbalète and Medinette.
