The Lavaux wine region - is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This area located at the edge of Lake Geneva includes 14 communes with 898 hectares of land of which 574 hectares are planted with vines. The steepest area is Dézaley, which was cultivated by Cistercian monks in the second half of the twelfth century. The 14 Lavaux communes are Lutry, Villette, Grandvaux, Cully, Riex, Epesses, Puidoux,Chexbres, Rivaz, St-Saphorin, Chardonne, Corseaux, Corsier-sur-Vevey and Jongny. The six AOC's are Lutry, Villette, St-Saphorin, Epesses, Dézaley and Chardonne.
