The Lavaux wine region is known for its distinguished Chasselas. The vines are planted on steep terraces overlooking Lake Geneva. The St-Saphorin commune's vineyard area is 29.6 hectares, 3/4 is occupied by whites, mostly Chasselas, and 1/4 by the red, mainly Pinot Noir and Gamay.
