Wine details

Fendant is probably the best known white wine from Valais. Le Pierrafeu is part of the Capsule Doré product line belonging to Provins. The law prescribes a minimum of 68° Oechsle. Provins is a cooperative, founded in 1930, resulting from a difficult period in thewine industry's history. The wine producers got together to form the first company to vinify and store their own products. Later, they created an entity to market their products. Provins is now the largest producer of Swiss wine. They represent about 23% of the Valais' wine production and 10% of the entire Swiss wine production. They have more than 4,400 members - that entrust their harvest tothe cooperative in the order of about 10 ,000,000 pounds of grapes per year.
