A rare white grape variety in Valais. It is already mentioned in 1313 inSion as Vinum Humanum. It seems to have arrived in Switzerland via the Greek colony Massilia (Marseille). Wines produced from the Humagne Blanche grape are known for their beneficial iron content and overall health benefits. For centuries, it has been enjoyed as a wine for the sick, and particularly for women recovering from birth, which is why it is also called the birthing wine.
