The Zurich and Rheinau cellars date back to a tradition that started four to five hundred years ago. In Rheinau, viticulture is even more than 1000 years old. In 1862, there is a merger of the Rheinau and the hospital cellars (Spitalkellerei), which becomes the Staatskeller. In 1997, the State Cellar is privatized and is taken over by Mövenpick. That is to say, an annual productionand sales of 300,000 liters of Swiss German quality wine.
