Vinattieri Ticinesi

Luigi Zanini and his son, whose name is also Luigi, have brought a sophisticated touch of Bordeaux to the Ticino wine scene. Their wines are full-bodied and elegant.
Vinattieri Ticinesi is a key player in Ticino winemaking.
Owning a total of almost 100 hectares of vines in Sottoceneri, the Zaninis have become key players in Ticino winemaking. The company was founded in 1985 by Luigi Zanini, who was joined by his son, a trained oenologist, in 1992.
The winery's most spectacular building is known as Castello Luigi. Constructed in Bordeaux style, this wine temple is home to an impressive cellar in which 700 barriques are stored. The eponymous wine, for which meticulously selected grapes from the best terroirs are used, is regarded as the most exclusive and expensive of all Ticino's top crus.
The company headquarters, however, is the Vinattieri winery in Ligornetto, dominating the main highway and built in the style of a South American finca. "Vinattieri Rosso", which is matured here, and the winery's second wine "Ligornetto" both impress with Bordeaux elegance and a fullness reminiscent of the New World, while "Vinattieri Bianco", produced from Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc, is the white counterpoint in this accomplished range.
