History of Les Fils de Charles Favre

In 1944 Charles Favre established the winery in Sitten with his sons. After the death of the eldest son René-Pierre, his widow Hanny took over its management. Soon after she was the first female Valais winery owner to become a member of the association of wine merchants. She also had another managerial role as a member of the management of the International Wine Academy, helping to boost the profile of Valais wines. It therefore came as no surprise when the managing director of Les Fils de Charles Favre was named "Personality of the Year" in the field of oenology in 1988. As head oenologist, Hanny Favre understood that winemaking is an art that requires great dedication, passion and creativity. These attributes have led to the creation of the Dame de Sion, Hurlevent, Collection F and Favi wine collections which brilliantly combine the diversity and complexity of the Valais grape varieties. Hanny Favre later handed the sceptre over to her son Jean-Pierre, and the family business continues to passionately uphold the legacy of its ancestors.
Some 30 employees assist the Les Fils de Charles Favre vintners in getting the best from the vines at Clos du Castel d'Or, Molignon and Tourbillon. They look after the vines and process the grapes with the sole objective of producing excellent wines that delight the palate. Thanks to this consistent approach, for 70 years now Charles Favre has been known as "the little winery that makes big wines".

The Les Fils de Charles Favre range

The vintners at Les Fils de Charles Favre produce a wide variety of wine types. Their range goes all the way from white wines like Petite ArvinePinot Gris and Marsanne Blanche, includes rosé specialities such as Œil de Perdrix, and ends with fruity Pinot noir reds. Numerous awards attest to the quality of the Les Fils de Charles Favre winery.
Of particular note are the Dame de Sion Fendants and the Hurlevent collection. Its single-varietal Chasselas white wines are a typical Valais speciality, while top growing locations in Sitten produce particularly fresh Fendants with an extremely fruity bouquet.
The ruby red Dôle cuvée and salmon pink Œil de Perdrix rosé also rank among the prestige wines created by the Les Fils de Charles Favre vintners. The Dôle is made with Pinot noir and Gamay and delights the palate with its fruity bouquet and silky texture, and the aroma of this AOC red wine is reminiscent of red berries. The Œil de Perdrix, a rosé created from Pinot noir, is extremely sophisticated.
Equally cherished by Valais wine lovers are Collection F and the Favi range. These are made with regional grapes such as Petite Arvine, Humagne Rouge and Cornalin and are testament to the outstanding indigenous varieties Valais has to offer.
