The grapes for our varietal wines are hand-picked and sourced from several small vineyards. Each batch is individually fermented and aged separately in the cellar. Not until shortly before the wine is bottled are the individual batches combined into cuvées, resulting in wines which are harmonious, yet still boast complex aromatics. The Black Stallion Estate Winery strives to produce accessible wines of high quality and exceptional elegance and character.
It was only in July 2007 that the Black Stallion Estate Winery joined the select club of prestige wineries in the Napa Valley. The name Black Stallion honours the historic equestrian centre that once stood here. The former riding arena now houses wine production. Some of the 36 historic stables have been preserved.
In May 2010, the Indelicato family, one of the country's foremost wine families, acquired the estate. The winegrowing and wine production tradition stretches back more than 85 years, across three generations of the Indelicato family. The family is committed heart and soul to the success of Black Stallion. This is clearly apparent both in the wines and in the family atmosphere that pervades the winery.
