Château Grand Ormeau

The Château Grand Ormeau is just a stone's throw from the exclusive Pomerol region, with its world-famous wineries and top-class wines.
The 14 hectares of vineyards are located at altitude in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation, with a north-south orientation.
But these prestigious neighbours should not eclipse the special finesse and exquisite elegance of the wines of the Château Grand Ormeau, which are among the best in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation.
Françoise Beton, who now runs the Château Grand Ormeau, will take you on a tour of her estate's world-class vineyards.
The 14 hectares of vineyards are located at altitude in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation, with a north-south orientation. The composition of the grape varieties grown here – 64% Merlot, 18% Cabernet franc, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon – is perfectly suited to the specific soil type: sandy and gravelly, with a subsoil of loam and iron-rich ironstone.
The best grapes are carefully selected and prepared to produce a first wine, Château Grand Ormeau, and a second, Chevalier d'Haurange. The winery's aim is to produce one of the best wines in the appellation – if not the very best.
Like all young top-class wines, those from Lalande-de-Pomerol should be decanted and allowed to breathe before serving. If you are to enjoy them in all their fullness and diversity of aromas, you should give these noble, charming wines a little more time to develop all their harmony, balance and complexity. They are excellent accompaniments to meat and game dishes, and to aromatic cheeses.
