The Domaine AF Gros was founded in 1988. When Anne-Françoise Gros married François Parent and purchased several parcels, it grew into a domaine with wines from fourteen appellations. The couple, who both grew up in Burgundy wineries, make the wines together. François Parent, a graduate oenologist who is the thirteenth generation to press the grapes from his family's land, sees himself as a link between the potential of a vineyard and the wine in the bottle. He enjoys travelling, especially visiting his fellow winemakers all over the world. He expresses admiration for other grape varieties, and great respect for the work of other producers. He sees himself as a craftsman, tasked with capturing in his cellar the identity that lies dormant in the grapes from each parcel – thus ensuring that the wine from each appellation has its own unique character. For him, a perfect Burgundy Pinot noir must be aromatic, sensual, charming and elegant – and this is exactly what makes his wines a supreme pleasure for lovers of this noble grape. The family also encapsulates the essence of the individual wines on their labels: artist Marie-Paule Deville-Chabrolle has made individual portraits of the couple's daughter for each wine.
