The property of the Devillard family since 1996, the Domaine des Perdrix benefits from the rich experience that Bertrand Devillard brought with him from running the Château de Chamirey in Mercurey and the Domaine de la Ferté in Givry.
Located in the Côte de Nuits area in the commune of Nuits-Saint-Georges, the Domaine des Perdrix grows about twelve hectares of vines in Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanée. This includes almost five hectares of Nuits-Saint-Georges AOC, including the 3.5-hectare "Premier Cru Aux Perdrix". 99% owned by the Domaine des Perdrix, this is considered a virtual monopoly – and is regarded as an excellent Premier Cru. The domaine is named after the partridges (perdrix) that still stroll through the vines today, lending authenticity to the wine's name.
The style of the wines is unmistakable: very elegant, graceful and fresh. The use of barriques is controlled, ensuring that the wood notes are barely perceptible on the nose – yet the wine would lack something if it were not aged in barrel at all. This perfect wood-fruit balance is a rare treasure. Oenologist Robert Vernizeau has been responsible for the wines since 1996.
