Founded in 1790, the Huguenot estate is now run by Philippe Huguenot – a representative of the family's tenth generation. Characterful wines of sparkling clarity are produced on 23 hectares of vineyards on the northern edge of the Côte de Nuits, at the Marsannay, Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin sites. The vines are an average of 30-40 years old. Since 2000 the vineyards have been switching to organic cultivation methods, and today the management of the entire growing area is organic – and partly even biodynamic. In an effort to retain all the character of the terroirs in the wines, their treatment in the cellar is as gentle as possible, with the discreet use of new wood.
