Château de Vaudieu

The Château de Vaudieu stands at the foot of the Mont-Redon plateau, just east of the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Vaudieu is one of the few estates in the region that have consistently produced wine since the 18th century.
The topography is a wild jumble of hills, slopes and terraces. Vaudieu is one of the few estates in the region that have consistently produced wine since the 18th century. The Bréchet family has been cultivating vines for five generations. The Château de Vaudieu was bought by Gabriel Meffre in 1955, when it had only 24 hectares of vineyards. Today there are over 70 hectares, all arranged around a massive 200-year-old cedar of Lebanon in the centre of the courtyard. The wine cellars were built new in 1976. After the death of Gabriel Meffre in 1987, his daughter Sylvette Bréchet inherited the Château de Vaudieu – as well as the Domaine des Bosquets in Gigondas and the Château de la Coulerette in La Londe-les-Maures. In 1990 Sylvette's son Laurent joined his mother, took over the management and founded Bréchet Winery, the family business.
